REACH for Kidney Donors – Nashville, TN

In June, Reach Kidney Care Music City hosted “Reach for Kidney Donors” and, in partnership with Tennessee Kidney Foundation (TKF), raised awareness about living kidney donation during a Nashville Sounds Baseball Game!

Reach, TKF, and Donate Life staff hosted a booth inside the gates of the stadium handing out donation information to all game attendees. Kidney donors, recipients, and two transplant surgeons also joined to answer any questions about donation.

During the game, two videos about living kidney donation produced by Reach, featuring DCI’s Kidney Rock and the Sounds mascot Booster the Hot Chicken, were shown on the stadium big screen and viewed by over 11,500 attendees! (videos attached) Most successfully, seventy-three people showed their organ donor status and ten more registered that night to become an organ donor.

The Purpose of this project is to expand community awareness about organ donation and promotion of living kidney donation.  This will encourage the renal community to increase the number of kidney transplants.   This Project will also raise awareness of kidney disease in the community.
