New DCI Dialysis Facility Opening in New Orleans
Construction is nearly complete on the newest Dialysis Clinic, Inc., (DCI) facility at 1661 Canal St., Suite 1001, in New Orleans. The beautiful, 11,000 square foot facility is replacing the smaller DCI dialysis unit currently operating at 1415 Tulane Ave.
The community is invited to an open house celebration on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the 1661 Canal Street location. Guests can enjoy light refreshments while touring the facility and learning about chronic kidney disease.
DCI Tulane is located at the corner of Canal and Claiborne Streets with convenient access to the interstate, RTA bus line and Tulane Medical Center. The 25-station clinic offers in-center hemodialysis, home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. In-center hemodialysis patients will have heated chairs, personal televisions and free Wi-Fi Internet access. DCI anticipates the opening of the clinic to be late in the fall of 2014. It will be open Monday through Saturday.
While treatment for kidney failure is available at the facility, DCI also offers free kidney disease education classes in an attempt to help people with chronic kidney disease maintain their kidney function for as long as possible.
“At DCI, we are focused on the care of the patient. We are excited to be moving to this much larger dialysis facility because we believe the patients will have a more enjoyable dialysis experience in this new building with all the conveniences that are available,” said Kassidy Addison, DCI administrator. “With all of the physical changes one can witness within our facility, it is important to note that we look forward to deepening our already strong working relationship with Tulane Medical Center. There is comfort in knowing that we can turn to the highly skilled doctors in the Tulane Medical Center just up the street.”
The new DCI clinic will provide services needed to the growing New Orleans community.
“The DCI dialysis unit is situated in the center of the growing New Orleans medical complex. It is located between Tulane University Hospital, the New University Medical Center and the new VA Medical Center. The programs at each of these centers provide unique and necessary services to the renal community while also working together to provide a continuum of care that benefits the patient. The physicians at DCI dialysis practice at all of the hospitals in the area and as academic physicians keep abreast of the latest advances in kidney care.” said DCI Medical Director, Eric Simon, M.D., who also serves as the Program Director and Section Chief of Nephrology and Hypertension at Tulane University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans.
