Free Community Carnival, July 28, Pittsburgh, PA
(Pittsburgh PA) On July 28 from 2-5 p.m. the Dialysis Clinic, Inc., in Point Breeze, Pennsylvania, will host a free community event, The Motown Carnival, for everyone to enjoy. The carnival will be located in the DCI parking lot at 7620 Meade St., Pittsburgh, PA.
Free barbeque will be offered. A local DJ will play Motown hits throughout the day. A variety of activities will be available, including a tattoo artist and a “Modalities” kidney bean toss.
Cindy Eisner, DCI Nurse Manager says, “I am amazed by the positive input from the community. Everyone is reaching out to help, giving us that small town community feeling.”
The National Kidney Foundation will be on hand at the event. Information about kidney health, treatment options and basic kidney health screening will be provided.
The Center for Organ Recovery and Education (CORE) will provide information regarding the need for organ donation and the kidney transplant process. Those who register on-site as organ donors will receive a special teddy bear.
Sally Wiggin, the host of WTAE Chronicle, an hour long news special program, is scheduled to attend.
“We hope to educate the community about kidney health in a fun and interactive way. This is a free event and we encourage everyone to attend. At DCI, we really appreciate the community businesses and the dynamic, caring, individuals who have offered their support. We expect the carnival to be a success,” says Cindy.
The event is part of a nationwide program, The DCI Purpose Project, which seeks to educate communities about the risk factors for kidney disease and the need for organ donation; identify those at risk for kidney disease; and provide support and encouragement for people with chronic kidney disease.
The DCI Point Breeze team encourages the community to attend The Motown Kidney Carnival. For more information call 412-247-5223.
