Our event raised $13,462.80 for the dialysis patient fund!!! DCi of Columbus joined forces with dialysis clinics throughout our community in order to reach a common goal: improve the quality of life for our patients. The Black-Lockett-Scarbrough Fund, named in the memory of three of our community’s dialysis nurses, was created three years ago as a way to supplement the needs of our patients. Often times Medicare and Medicaid do not provide coverage for necessary items such as glasses, dentures or dietary supplements, just to name a few. With budget cuts continually on the rise, programs like these are increasingly important to ensure that the needs of our patients are being met. From January of 2012 to April of 2013 the Black-Lockett-Scarbrough Fund was able to approve $24,791.64 in grants to assist patients in the Chattahoochee Valley. Our fund raiser, which took place on July 27, 2013, raised $17,101.00 between ticket sales and a live auction. After expenses were paid and the Purpose Project Grant distributed, our profit for the BLS Fund was $13,462.80! The Black-Lockett-Scarbrough Fund is one of the biggest resources in our community to financially assist our patients; we appreciate this opportunity and plan to continue our ‘purpose’ for many years to come.
